Our main goal at Mozaik Education is to develop a comprehensive system that strives to ensure that all participants of the learning process are effectively supported. In the name of this objective, mozaBook is updated every 6 months just before the start of a new semester.

The Mozaik team is thrilled to introduce the new 4.5.9 release of the mozaBook software, which will be available to all users from the 15th of August 2022. Besides a great deal of background work to increase performance and stability, we have added some new features as well. In this post, we would like to highlight some of the most significant changes and improvements in the new version.

Templates, easier and faster

From now on, text and page layout templates are easier to access and use, since users can find templates in one place by clicking on the media library. On top of that, text templates can also be found among the text editor tools

Restore deleted exercise books

The deleted exercise books remain restorable for 12 months. Users can access them by simply clicking on the Publication menu in the login screen > Deleted exercise books > Restore Publication. After the restore, the link to an exercise book will be operating just like before it was deleted.

Hong Kong Chinese

New language on board! Hong Kong Chinese is expanding the library of available languages (content+UI).

Mass copy and paste

Similarly to the exercise books, users now can copy and paste the design elements on a page or on all pages of a book as well. Besides, the selected page content can be printed too.

Better in size!

The maximum page number for exercise books increased to 200, and the maximum file size expanded to 500MB.

The Mozaik team is pleased to announce that it has formed alliances with Altbit and Expandel, at the beginning of 2022. Since then, our Brazilian partners have been working together on the introduction of mozaBook and mozaWeb in their country. Our first joint appearance with Altbit and Expandel took place at the BETT Brasil (10-13 May, 2022), at the world's leading education technology show. This year, it had more than 29,000 visitors, and circa 270 exhibitions on the latest trends in education.For this occasion, together with our partners, we prepared co-branded brochures and we presented our extensive 3D library to the visitors not only on interactive boards but with a VR tryout option as well. Furthermore, we distributed more than 500, 3-month demo license cards to keen teachers, so that they will be able to try out our software in practice too.

Aside from that, Altbit and Expandel will jointly offer mozaBook Classroom, Mozaik Teacher and Mozaik Student licenses, along with training as well as Mozaik content recommendations, which correspond to the Brazilian curriculum requirements. https://expandel.com.br/. SETT stands for Scandinavian Education Technology Transformation and is Scandinavia's largest conference and trade fair for modern and innovative learning. Since its start in Stockholm in 2012, SETT has had formidable growth and success. In 2022, SETT had just over 7,000 visits to the Kista Fair Center. This year was the first time we visited SETT, as more and more schools and prospective partners reached out to our sales team for cooperation. We started to work together with the City of Stockholm Department of Education in 2021 and through this collaboration mozaBook got approved and GDPR certified in the region and became one of the suggested digital learning resources of the city. What is PON?

The Programma Operativo Nazionale (PON) is an EU-funded investment program aimed at strengthening the Italian education system and promoting equitable access to high-quality education across the country.

Innovation represents a key-importance issue regarding the development of education, hence, within the frames of the PON Digital Board project, a significant amount of the funding (455 million euro) was allocated to exclusively support the digitalization of classrooms and secretariats. 

The program’s main objectives include the provision of digital equipment for schools (e.g. interactive displays, computers and other digital devices). By this, contributing  to the digital transformation of the educational institutions and teaching. Furthermore, PON intends to bolster the process of dematerialization and the digitization of administration of schools as well as to ensure the appropriate and effective adaptation of the tools provided.  

The application for the Digital Board tender was open  from 8 September 2021  to 1 October 2021. After all, the expenditure commitment deadline came to an end on 31 March 2022. Subsequently, by 31 December 2022, all interventions must be completed, tested, and concluded.

In terms of the cooperation with our Italian distributor partners, with each board purchased through the PON tender, they provide mozaBook Classroom licence and Mozaik Teacher licence to the end-users.

What do we like most about mozabook?

MHS and their students all love mozaBook. But what everyone likes most about mozabook is that it is very easy to use and has useful content. Besides, we’re sharing other mozaBook things below that MHS students and their teachers love most.

• Electronic version of textbooks
• 3D scenes
• Teachers can create their own test assignments (including images, videos, and audio files)
• Students can do their digital homework from the comfort of home via mozaWeb.
• Animated exercise books
• Freehand drawings and complex illustrations.

In our first year of using mozaBook, two of our classrooms were equipped with digital blackboards. Two of our teachers worked with it extensively, while many others were educated on how to use it and were able to try it out for themselves.

Overall, our experience with mozaBook has been very positive. The interface is intuitive, the functions are useful and it enhances teaching with a digital blackboard in many ways.

We especially appreciate and work with the following features:

• The basic blackboard features with different pens, rulers, etc: The basic blackboard is very functional. It allows for dynamic teaching within the classroom. The fading pen is especially appreciated among our colleagues, along with the different writing backgrounds and fonts for primary schools.

• Our favorites are the 3D-models. The selection is large and suited for primary school topics. The functions work well. The children are mesmerized by the models which retain their attention very well. They gained a better understanding of the different topics and were more engaged during the lessons we worked with the 3D-models.

• We appreciate the direct internet pathways that allow for videos and images to be inserted into presentations.

• We are able to use many of the videos provided by mozaBook. Much like the 3D- models, they provide the students with a fuller understanding of the matter while retaining and increasing their interest.

• Since German school book publishers aren’t cooperating with mozaBook as of yet, the option to import PDFs has been especially useful.

In our first year of using the mozaBook software, we have found a few aspects we would like to mention for constructive feedback:

• We are in the process of buying tablets for our classrooms. This will allow us to involve children more in the lesson and have an interactive environment. As we started to work with different test exercise types (matching, gap filling) we realized that we cannot engage the whole class at once without student devices, but they work perfectly as homework assignments and grading, feedback management is also easy to use. Right now we use mozaBook exclusively on the blackboard and when we do one of the exercises in class, just one or two kids can do the exercise. 

• We would appreciate closer cooperation with German school book publishers, which would make our work much easier and expand our possibilities in the classroom. 

Overall, our experience in working with mozaBook has been very positive and we hope to

continue to work together in using and advancing the program. We appreciate the webinars that continue to educate us on the features of the platform as well as the improvements of the Media library and enjoy learning more about them. We also appreciate the access to mozaBook that we received when attending one of the teacher-webinars and are gladly continuing to use mozaBook in our classrooms.
